For years Madylin “Mady” Goins has grown accustomed to being behind the lens as she photographs her favorite musicians from Kentucky and beyond. From just south of Lexington in Nicholasville, the honky tonk angel is now doing a role reversal, hopping into the spotlight to welcome people into her life with nothing more than her voice and an acoustic guitar.
No better song is evidence of this than her debut single, “Honky Tonk Dream.” The raw and deeply personal tune recorded inside a century old barn set to be demolished on her family’s farm sees Goins singing of embracing new beginnings, things coming to an end and other changes that are inevitable in life, particularly when one stay’s determined and driven in pursuit of accomplishing their dreams.
At only 20 years old, Goins has a lifetime ahead of her to grow with her music, photography and just about anything else she sets her sights on. You can catch her behind the camera and on the stage at several festivals around Kentucky and the nearby region this summer including Festival Of The Red and Hollergirl Music Festival, among others.
