Kia ora!! I’m Maggie, a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Mangawhai, Aotearoa. My love for music and writing has stemmed from all of my eighteen years. I grew up in a family of five, each of us with a unique & diverse taste in tunes. When my dad’s mate gifted him a drum kit, I started messing around on it and concluded - that was my jam. I began lessons with one of NZ’s best drum tutors Ryan Carroll at the Auckland Drum School, and the beat went on. I’ve played in some wicked bands - some classical, some rock, some jazz, some indie-pop - playing live is the ultimate buzz I love. My inspos are The 1975, Clairo, Lorde, Chappell Roan, beabadoobee, Jack Antonoff, the HSM soundtracks…

In 2023, Play It Strange accepted my song Chocolate & Backstreets as a finalist for The Youthtown Songwriting Competition. We took it to the next level at Parachute Studios, I teamed up with my good mate Ted Pitches on electric guitar, mentor and Supergroove legend Joe Lonie on bass, and the amazing Christian Tjandrawinata on production. I’m super proud of the final result - I hope you love it ❤️
