Mahriisah

Princess Damaris Makonor (born April 11 2000), known
professionally as Mahriisah, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Born
into a musical family in Lagos Nigeria, she began making music at an
early stage, inspired by the likes of Adele, She would perform Adele
songs to her family, before she took her talent to the church.
In 2020, Mahriisah decided to chase her dreams as a singer, and
immediately started releasing covers/freestyles on Instagram. Her
videos gained her impressions of over 200,000 and decent following.
Mahriisah’s early music was recorded with her friends and neighbors
on free beats gotten from YouTube, although those songs remain
unreleased.
Mahriisah is an Afro beats singer whose music has been described as
alternative R&B with elements of Afro Pop, highlife, minimalist R&B,
and Reggae.
Her lyrics are described as “unravelling”, and her songs often revolve
around themes of love & nostalgia
She listens to Whitney Houston and Lauryn hill for vocal influence,and
has said that Rihanna is one of her personal influences.
