Mainline are an Italian band from the province of Turin, formed in 2000.
Their debut release came in 2003 with the EP “Neurasthenic,” which received positive reviews from critics. After about three years, they released their first full-length album titled “From Oblivion To Salvation.” Mainline’s music combines groove and thrash/metalcore influences, enriched with Tool-like melodies and electronic elements. The band stands out for the contrast between an aggressive, brutal sound and more melodic, fluid moments, reflected also in Maurizio Lazzaroni’s vocals, who alternates between screams and clean singing, reminiscent of artists like Jeffrey Morera from Poison the Well.
After a lineup change between their first and second albums, they returned in 2011 with the album “Azalea,” which represents a stylistic evolution, shifting away from speed/thrash towards more post-hardcore and metalcore sounds, with Californian influences and bands like Killswitch Engage and Unearth. The production pays attention to every detail, making “Azalea” a testament to the band’s maturity and energy.
In 2016, they released the EP “Inversus,” which features Marco Pasqua (formerly with Braindamage) as the new guitarist and pushes the band to further develop their sound from “Azalea.” This new work demonstrates greater stylistic maturity and a refinement of the multiple contrasts between aggressiveness and melody.
