Alexandra Elizabeth Ljadov’s stage name — Majorlilkween — was coined during a photoshoot where she hung upside down on a staircase in a blue wig, dripping in slime and draped in couture. From behind the camera, John Galliano called out, “Major, Major, Major… little queen,” urging her to pose as if she were climaxing.

Born in Estonia, Major moved to New York City at thirteen to pursue a modelling career, quickly finding herself inside the surreal theatre of fashion, nightlife, and spectacle that would later shape her music.

Majorlilkween’s hyper-stylised sound — a collision of underground rap/sexy drill, EDM, and hyperpop coined “SEXY POP” — is amplified by her equally sharp directing and editing style behind the music videos. She produced her first EP during a manic, drug-laced creative vortex. For eight weeks, as snowstorms swallowed New York City, she tiptoed through nightclubs across Manhattan hunting for sonic and cinematic inspiration. Ketamine softened the edges of reality, unlocking strange perspectives on the dance floor. She calls this state “swimming at the aquarium” — relying on her muse like a fishing line tethering her to reality. The songs that surface are glamorous, venomous, and occasionally a little unhinged.
