Maria and Tomas became known to a greater audience in Finland by participating in the singing competition The Voice of Finland where they both reached the semifinals, Tomas in 2013 and Maria in 2015. The also took part in The Voice of Finland Allstars Edition 2021 with great success as a duo. Both Maria and Tomas write and produce their own music and they have both released solo singles during the last years.
Together with songwriter and music producer Niklas Nylund, Maria and Tomas have written songs as the duo MAKAR during the last year. The outcome is an EP with three songs that will be released this spring 2022.
The first single ”You make me whole” is going to be released 18.3 on all major streaming platforms. The song is an uptempo popsong, with influences from the 1980´s sound world and harmonies that breathe soul and gospel music. It pictures love and trust as the force that carries you through life and gives life joy and meaning.
