On new years eve of 2015, under the starry night sky, the fireworks, the cheering and the champagne-drinking, some long-time friends did the classic “Hey, let’s start a band” and Makeout Point was born. Through the years, the band has experimented with various forms of alternative guitar based music and been called everything from “Like The Cure, but happy!” to “indie violence”.
With all this, they remain true to their core: lipstick smeared, wild at heart indie rock.
The band shares an equal influence to the psychedelic groups of the 60s and 70s such as The Beatles, The Byrds and Pink Floyd to modern day acts like Alvvays, Car Seat Headrest, Spiritualized, Mitski and The World is a beautiful place and I’m no longer afraid to die.
