Malakai is an emerging Canadian artist, hailing from the unceded Quw’utsun territory of Vancouver Island. At 16 years old, Malakai sings with a soul surprising in one so young, “after hearing just a few notes, it’s clear to even the average music consumer that Malakai was born with a gift.” (Chek TV) Celebrated for his use of alternative tunings, and unique chord progressions, Malakai's distinct instrumentation sculpts emotion. His music is “introspective yet inclusive, he can pull you into areas of thought you might not have ventured; marvelous arrangements.” (The Duncan Showroom)
A multi-instrumentalist, Malakai hit the festival scene at 10 years old. Developing his skills as a producer, he has been recording and engineering his original music following the release of his debut acoustic EP. Inspired by the stories of people in everyday life, his songwriting reflects a deep connection to the observations of the human experience.
Malakai's first self-produced single, "Beautiful" will be released on December 5th, exhibiting his talent for the creation of a fuller sound.
