Malini Viswanath is a gifted and passionate musician with rich, expressive and mellifluous voice. She had no idea what ‘Music’ would do to her when her parents introduced her to Carnatic music during her primary school days. Now, she cannot imagine a day without ‘Music’ and its power to unify, enthrall and heal humanity.
Trained by eminent Gurus in Carnatic music, Malini creatively combines intricate ornamentation, emotional expression and beautiful phrasing in her singing to bring life to stories embedded in the lyrics, amplify the underlying devotion in krithis and transport audiences into a sublime world, while keeping the rich tradition intact.
Malini’s passion for music does not stop at being a versatile musician, she is a passionate mentor who has dedicated over two decades to promote and make Carnatic music accessible to new audiences worldwide. Her soulful performances, a vast repertoire of music, innovative approaches to teaching continue to enthrall audiences worldwide and turn them into eternal seekers of Carnatic music.
Malini is a well-versed musicologist, continues to perform globally and collaborate across musical traditions. Her current projects include setting ‘Gujarati Poetry’ to Carnatic music; Compose, render and add to the collection of over 150 Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi compositions; Continue to learn and internalize the classicism in the compositions of Trinity, in the Veena Dhanammal Bani; Propagate works of contemporary Carnatic composers.
