Malty and the Rain

Malty and the Rain began as every band does, with three guys on a ski trip who simultaneously realized they were all secretly rock legends. What began as friends playing music together for fun quickly evolved into a creative way to process decades of pent-up angst - songwriting. They soon managed to find a drummer (who also happened to secretly be a rock legend) to round out the group, and they have been writing, practicing, and playing shows ever since.

Guitarists Austin Maier and Levi Malterud have distinctly different playing styles that compliment each other well, encompassing punchy riffs, searing leads, beautiful intertwining melodies, and anything in between. Bassist Madison Albert not only keeps the groove locked in, but also adds another layer of complexity to the soundscape with unique fills and bass lines. Drummer Jonathan Mantello is a musical guru and always knows exactly what the song needs to sound its best, staying in the pocket until the perfect time for a tasty fill. Levi takes care of the lead vocals, with Madison and Jonathan adding harmonies to fill out the sound. The result is an upbeat, dynamic, vocal-driven sound that is firmly rooted in alternative rock, with major influence from punk and Midwest emo.
