In 1998 musical producer Hiram Villanueva desired to create a tropical group that would set up a high standards’ bar in the industry with a different and fresh sound that would made it stand out of the croud. This is how MAMBO was released that year under the Tropix Music seal. Their first single “Corazon Partio” (known before from singer Alejandro Sanz) was quickly accepted and became a hit in Puerto Rico’s radio, but the single that catapulted them was “Ella Tiene el Sabor” written by Elvis Crespo.
In year 2000 Mambo released their second production, “Evolucion”, this time with the lead of Pina Music. On 2002, with their third production, “Diferente”, Mambo introduced “Usted se me Llevo la Vida”, that was a hit by brazilian singer Alexandre Pires and “Te Recuerdo”. This recording was distinguished by its armonies and high standards musical arrangements. On 2004, MAMBO released their fourth musical production, “Todo o Nada”, with Mambo Music. With Hiram Villanueva’s lead, group producer and owner, they successfully mixed merengue and reggaetón. MAMBO introduced us to Urban Merengue. “Historias”, the group’s fifth production was released in. After single “Eres lo Mejor” in 2012 and the release of a hits album with independent music seal, Mr. Mambo Records in 2019, MAMBO is having a comeback, this time with “Atrevete”(cover of urban hit by Nicky Jam and Sech). This merengue cover is just leading to the top within tropical music in digital platforms.
