Mammoth

A band made of sought-after touring and session musicians including drummer Harry Pope (Alfa Mist,
Neue Graffik Ensemble) and sax player Tim Ower (Gary Barlow, Jess Glynne, Stormzy), Mammoth is a jazz
electronic project that draws inspiration from across genres, reflecting each member’s eclectic tastes and
experiences. This diversity is what led to the group’s initial formation; feeling unable “to express these
many different arts of our musical personality in other projects”. Harry Pope explains “this project was
born to try and make a cohesive snapshot of our multi faceted tastes and playing styles, and come away
with something that doesn’t sound confused.”
With their respective 2020 touring schedules totally cancelled, the musicians decided to come together
and invest the time needed to form a clear vision, leading to astounding results. The combo has produced
an organic sound emerging from the members’ varied influences that remains grounded in jazz but pulls
enough from other genres to remain surprising and refreshing.
Everything about the group reflects these wide-ranging inspirations, including the members themselves.
Pope comments ‘I think our identity is within how mismatched the different members of the group are.
The result is modern sounding music from a group of exquisitely talented, forward-thinking musicians
who are not bound by any labels but thrive on the simple idea of creating and playing together
