Mandalus is the moniker of Des Foley, an electronic producer, musician and visual artist from Ireland.
During the late 00's, he played and recorded with several Pop-Punk bands including <a href="spotify:artist:07ZeyIvNyq7uosU3f2ZAt6" data-name="Mr. Lightweight">Mr. Lightweight</a>, alongside his best friend <a href="spotify:artist:69kOQOUIhu4r8IzOme8N2F" data-name="Pat Byrne">Pat Byrne</a> on drums. Around 2009 he was a founding member of <a href="spotify:artist:2NR1wcAIubptm9CDb0HZei" data-name="Jody Has A Hitlist">Jody Has A Hitlist</a> with members of <a href="spotify:artist:1SAXbWJ6qKwbcqrIRDum1l" data-name="Steer Clear">Steer Clear</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:7F5YtccWBFKra5cXdsinsn" data-name="The Upgrades">The Upgrades</a>, co writing their first two releases <a href="spotify:album:5875wpS8NewhkM0hYk2vMi" data-name="Jody Has A Hitlist EP">Jody Has A Hitlist EP</a> / <a href="spotify:album:3dbBOJGNjIFgH18BO4Vov6" data-name="You Used to Be Fun">You Used to Be Fun</a>.
After some burnout from performing and having other passions that he wanted to pursue, Des abandoned his journey as a guitarist, but still jammed at home infrequently. A trip to Ibiza in 2017 would inspire a new venture into producing electronic music. The Mandalus project was born with the first release <a href="spotify:album:7l9tReJzPecKWfBbhavmhr" data-name="Loading">Loading</a> coming in Spring 2019.
"This project started out of a desire to create and produce music again after a long break. Now with a lot more life experience and awareness of other kinds of music, I feel I'm much better equipped to express myself. Mandalus is a means for me to share my personality through music I’ve created, and I aim to expand this project into something bigger over the next decade”
