Manish Gandharva is a Kathmandu based musician, composer, instructor. Born in the spiritual land of the Himalayas, Nepal in 1995.
His ancestors, the Gandharvas consisted of musicians who travelled, sang folk songs, providing messages from one village to another as well as messages from the King to the people. Their music was accompanied by playing a traditional folk instrument, the Sarangi.
His interest in Sarangi grew in his early teen years watching his uncle, Bikram Gandharva play the Sarangi fluidly. At the age of 14, Manish started learning Sarangi from his uncle. His uncle continues to be his inspiration till today. His learning took place in the form of oral tradition which he later improvised to document as notations.
