Born and raised in Hong Kong, 26-year-old Manu found her passion for music growing up in church and drama club. Joined the choir team and various singing competitions in high school, she excelled in singing and expressing her songwriting style when she learned to play the guitar at 14-years-old. During college, she also experimented with her music style by starting a Soundcloud, primarily by visually writing acoustic interludes in a story. In 2020, she collaborated with her brother, <a href="spotify:artist:3kH3cdvEQ8E33l3eOQC2N9" data-name="Jayj">Jayj</a>, who produced and helped release her first single on Spotify, "Conceited", establishing her songwriting approach, matching contemporary R&B/Lo-Fi beats and letter-formed lyrics.
Growing up as Muskan Sharma, her mother nicknamed her "Manu" — as her siblings continued to call her that when meeting amongst friends and other family members, hence choosing her an artistry name.
