Map of Rome was formed in 2014 in Sayreville NJ by two friends. After releasing an EP titled Sleeping In the same year, they went on to add members and round out their lineup. They released their debut album Don't Take It For Granted in 2016 which brought in a more focused sound. They began to combine quirky idiosyncratic lyricism, big hooks, and swirling guitar riffs around a dynamic and pounding rhythm section. With elements of pop punk, bossa nova, indie and shoegaze, they continue to expand their sound and reach new sonic heights.
