Despite having the strong presence of fado during her childhood, along the way Mara has created new paths with different projects of Portuguese popular music.

She studied voice at the school Jb Jazz and took part in various projects such as Música nos Hospitais (Music at Hospitals) and Aqui Há Baile. She participated in soundtracks and dance performances. For Mara is all about sharing. She had sharing moments with the pianist Amílcar Vasques-Dias, in Festival Bons Sons and Festival Andanças, with Ronda dos Quatro Caminhos and Orquestra Sinfonietta de Lisboa. She also had a sharing moment with Mestre António Chainho, in Exib Musica - Feira Iberoamericana de Música and sharing the Luís Pucarinho and Carlos Menezes albums. Sharing in Atlantic Music Expo. In 2009, Mara found her roots in Alentejo and starts her own project of Portuguese music, the album “Folha de Rosto”. Shared in 2014, this debut album is the logbook of a journey where Mara searches for a space of encounters.

Mara is not just Fado nor Cante Alentejano. Her music has Portuguese identity, but it also results from all the places where she lived. Because Mara, in addition to sharing can be willingness, desire and dream. Mara feels the desire to construct so that she can offer music. She feels the desire to grow into a space that is hers. She dreams to continue on believing that it is possible to take care of the past and reinvent new days.
