Born in Virginia and raised elsewhere, Matt Maraist who goes by the stage name, “MARAIST” fell in love with music at a young age. Matt fondly recalls riding in his father’s Jeep Cherokee listening to the radio. However, Matt never saw himself as a musician or an artist in any way until later in life.
Fast forward to high school and Matt’s family had moved back to Virginia. He taught himself how to sing and play guitar after suffering a major sports injury. As he says, “I had nothing better to do so I picked up the guitar and taught myself how to play.” Soon after he formed the band, “Until Sundown” and released two EPs, gained over 2,000 followers on Instagram, and received national recognition through radio airplay.
After college, Matt moved to Pittsburgh, PA, and started releasing music under, “MARAIST”. This is where he honed his live music skills and showmanship. After playing at almost every music club in the city Matt started receiving high praise for his energetic live show as well as his ability to connect with any crowd he played in front of.
Matt now resides in Virginia and has been touring around the state playing venues, festivals, bars, and breweries while preparing to release new music in the fall of 2023.
