Known for his militant and revolutionary lyricism, Marcel Cartier has broken ground across the globe as a forerunner of today's brand of politically conscious hip-hop.
Since 2007, Cartier has been releasing albums, mixtapes and singles that speak to the struggles of the world's poor and oppressed, the downtrodden and marginalised, the vulnerable and the forgotten. With over 130 records to his name, he has solidified himself as a consistent voice of protest and rebellion, whether he has been based in New York, London or Berlin.
His communistic art is a reflection of his relationship with movements for social change. His involvement with the anti-war and Occupy Wall Street movements in the United States, his advocation of revolutionary socialism, his experiences as a writer and journalist who has travelled to places as numerous as North Korea, Syria, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Palestine, have all informed his art.
Working alongside London-based producer Agent of Change, Cartier released his debut studio album "History Will Absolve Us" in 2012. As the new decade begins, the pair are gearing up for the release of their fourth collaborative LP, and a series of listening parties and shows to take place between Europe and North America.
