Marco Simoni

Born in 1972, he graduated in Composition in 2003 at the Milan Conservatory, under the guidance of Mario Garuti. He later specialized in electronic music at the Civica Scuola di Musica in Milan, with Alvise Vidolin and Michele Tadini.
His main interest is musical theatre, especially contemporary opera, even if his production ranges over many areas of art music and applied music. He collaborates with theatres, foundations and musical and cultural associations; he is a member of the Italian Society of Contemporary Music and of the Lucca Cluster association; finalist in many composition competitions, former Artistic Director of S. Rossore International Composition Competition in Pisa. Since 2012 he has written television music for RAI: his music is regularly used on Rai1, Rai2, Rai3, RaiScuola, RaiEdu.

His pieces have been performed in Italy and abroad in prestigious places such as Dal Verme Theater in Milan, Bulgarian Embassy in Washington, Modern Art Gallery in Turin, Verdi Theater in Pisa, Philip Kutev Hall in Sofia , Museo del Novecento in Milan, Teatro del Giglio in Lucca, Palazzina Liberty in Milan. His works are published by RaiTrade, Sconfinarte, UtOrpheus, EmaVinci, RMN Classical, Editiòns Habanera.

He has a degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Pisa.
