Telling stories is what the folk tradition is all about and it is what Margot Merah loves to do. She shares tales of life, simple and small, with a deeper layer that touches people. Her songs are comforting, melancholic, sometimes sad, but always with a shimmer of hope, a speckle of light. Acoustic folk songs that at one time remind you of rural Ireland and other times transports you to the New York folk scene of the early sixties.
Over 20 years Margot has toured the world performing (traditional) folk music with different ensembles, recording eight cd's. Her feet firmly in the tradition of Irish, Scottish and English folk music, Margot has released her first solo album in February 2022. Take Heart is recorded in Amsterdam, together with Scottish multi-instrumentalist and producer Alan McLachlan.
