“Underground trap artist Mari Da Goat got his start working retail and splitting his checks going to the studio. In his rough hometown in Ohio, it’s very crowded at the bottom of the rap scene but Mari decided to skip through the “local artist stage” that so many of his peers were trapped in. After deleting his first project that very little people know about, he shifted his focus to his first single “Menacing” that generated more streams than the entire first mixtape. Within months, the track gathered 100,000 plays on Spotify with zero promotion or collaboration. According to Mari, “…it was like I was an internet based artist at the time, I knew I had to pair my anime content with my music and fully become Mari Da Goat. My social media, attire, and persona had to be reborn. I’m actually going through a similar rebirth this year, purging parts of Mari I feel that I grew past, you know? “Menacing” meant a lot to me but that song isn’t going to be where I peak. “degenerate overlord” isn’t gonna be where I peak” While these milestones hold spots in his heart, he ensures that he’ll surpass them. Mixing anime culture with hip-hop was a small trial that landed Mari a small fanbase. Speaking of said fanbase, here’s a parting quote directly him, “I appreciate my fans and love them all dearly. Especially Jay, probably my biggest fan but at this point that’s my guy, you know? I wouldn’t be anything without them.”
