Marí

Marí is the chosen moniker for the Danish songwriter Linda Marí Josefsen. Marí grew up on the island Mors in Northern Jutland, where the centerpiece of Scandinavian mentality, the code of conduct ‘Law of Jante’ also originated, which is indeed present in her music.

Without being under the influence of the sound and musical virtues of the present time, Marí delivers songs in a timeless, reflective and calm, yet edgy, gloomy and melancholic universe. Like a spherical and airy autumn storm, her album, slowly but surely, works its way through a Nordic landscape painting, where you’ll walk through the wind-swept fjord fields, the dirty night hours of the cities and gnarled forests with the lonely full moon as the only company.

One is tempted to place Marí's sound somewhere between PJ Harvey, Vashti Bunyan, Tindersticks and Tori Amos with a bit of Linda Perhacs and Bonnie Prince Billy added. Thus the music and the sound also draw their inspiration from the past 6 decades of music history. But most of all, the songs find their roots in the new Nordic sound.

Her debut-album will be released November 3rd 2023.
