Inspired by the infectious rhythms of Disco, Funk, Soul, and R&B, Mario's musical journey began in 1989 when he became a pivotal figure in the Portuguese dance scene with residencies at iconic venues like Plateau, Kings & Queens, and Locomia.
His career took a significant leap in 1997 after being invited by his mentor, the legendary Frankie Knuckles, to join the esteemed Def Mix crew in New York City. Mario spent nearly a decade in the USA, honing his craft and expanding his musical horizons. Since then, he has performed globally, including a residency at Ibiza's Supa Disco Party, and has shared stages with renowned artists like Erick Morillo and Louie Vega.
In 2013, Mario launched Afrisoul Records, a testament to his passion for fostering new talent and sharing his unique sound.
A self-taught producer, musician, and songwriter, he has collaborated with a host of artists, releasing his work on respected labels such as Quantize Recordings and Purple Music. Mario Marques continues to influence and inspire the global music scene with his dynamic and soulful productions.
