MARK ADDERLEY (b. 1960) is a Norwegian-English composer. He studied bassoon at Guildhall School of Music in London (1978–1981), before moving to Oslo, where he continues to reside. Adderley, who studied composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music (1985–1992), has collaborated with many well-known Norwegian ensembles and artists, including Ensemble Ernst, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Affinis Ensemble, Eirik Raude and Marius Hesby. Adderley received the Norwegian Society of Composers “Work of the Year” award in 1994 for “Reverberations”, a work for ensemble. He has been nominated three times for the Edvard Prize for “Homage to C.P.E. Bach”, “The Cloud of Unknowing”, and "<a href="spotify:album:0nfMv4O3ycphiM9bVNkgNE" data-name="Mark Adderly - Bad Language">Mark Adderly - Bad Language</a>", in 1993, 1998, and 2003, respectively. Among his many compositions, mention can be made of the oboe concerto, “Still Talking to myself" commissioned by Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, and his harp concerto, “All Plans Last Only Until the First Shot”, which was premiered by <a href="spotify:artist:38J9pvSp3rwBYOiLhzB1Gg" data-name="Sunniva Rødland">Sunniva Rødland</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:0VFU6TlPK3rmzTiorwStAZ" data-name="Ensemble Ernst">Ensemble Ernst</a> in 2010 at the Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival. Since 2013 Mark Adderley has been the recipient of a government guaranteed income.
