As part of the Levellers, Mark Chadwick has co-written twenty hit singles and ten Top 40 albums (including the number one, Zeitgeist).

Born in Munster, Germany; son of a bandsman in the army, Mark grew up alongside Graham Coxon of Blur as their fathers had the same job.

Chadwick’s solo material is more autobiographical than his Levellers work and has seen him collaborating with a wide range of diverse musicians.
“The first album (All The Pieces) was a joy to record, looking at life, dissecting it”.

When it came to the making the second (Moment), Chadwick had been to rehab, and given up drinking.
“I had a good long look at myself and how I fitted into the world around me”.

His latest, Ouse Dragon, is a dreamlike and, at times disorientating, collection of six musical pieces that inhabit a leftfield sonic world of electronic soundscapes and ambient textures.

Showcasing a very different musical side to Mark from his work with Levellers, the Ouse Dragon tales originate from his adopted hometown of Lewes, both ancient and modern.

“All of the stories herein are true,” Mark explains. “Murder, abduction, mis-adventures, suicide, possession, spirits and other dimensions. Unknowable but all experienced by the writer. Enjoy the OUSE DRAGON. Headphones and a quiet mind essential”.

Chadwick continues to divide his time between fronting the Levellers and his solo work.
