Mark Owen Nutto & The Unemployed Teachers has been a New York City underground and college radio band since the late 1980s. Their early recordings were released only on cassette tape and sold at concerts. These featured their ground breaking fantasy Trilogy inspired by the computer game ZORK. This legendary Trilogy is now finally getting commercially released in digital format. The third part of the Trilogy "End of An Empire and The Birth of a Wax Tadpole" was released in 2005. The second part of the Trilogy "Love and Folk songs from ZORK" was released in two batches, one in 2020 and 2024.
Their first non fantasy recording of original material "Pavlov's Chalkboard" was released in 2014 to critical acclaim, and featured several guest appearances from notable artists such as Pink Floyd's Jon Carin, The Cars Greg Hawkes, Mars Volta Drummer Blake Fleming, Grammy nominee harpist Brandy Younger, etc.
The Band is still actively performing in the New York City area and in live performances on radio.
