Mark Vennis & Different Place are a post-punk band from Petersfield, UK who have released four acclaimed albums and have just released the SUNRISE EP, which in an expanded form is now available on vinyl here: https://elasticstage.com/markvennis/releases/sunrise-ep-album
The SUNRISE EP blends the attitude of punk rock with touches of soul and blues, offering a unique and thought-provoking take on the state of the nation.
The Sunrise EP is a musical journey through Britain's turbulent times, delivering messages of resilience, frustration, and hope. Each song captures the raw emotions felt across the nation, addressing societal decay while holding on to the belief that change is possible.
Musically, Sunrise pulls from a wide spectrum of influences. Vennis and the band weave together elements of the Manic Street Preachers and Gang of Four, mixing in flavours of REM and The Clash. The EP also nods to old-school blues and soul, all of which is seasoned with a rebellious punk rock attitude. The result is a genre-defying sound that merges different musical traditions into one seamless, politically charged cocktail.
"A Post Punk Springsteen" says Dancing About Architecture.
"Vennis evokes the spirit of Ray Davies" says Vive Le Rock
Mark Vennis & Different Place are Mark Vennis, Dave Sweetenham, Sean Quinn and Brian Gee
