Born in London to Congolese parents, Marla Kether is a bassist, producer and DJ. Exceeding 40 million Spotify streams for her work as a session bassist (Loyle Carner, Yazmin Lacey, Oscar Jerome, and Obongjayar), Marla released All That We Have in November 2023 to widespread acclaim. Bandcamp Daily hailed the EP as among "The Best Electronic Music of November 2023", and the closing track BTR2 was one of DJ Mag’s Top Tracks of the Year.
Winner of Youth Music’s 2024 Producer of the Year, Marla has recently announced the release of her outstanding debut EP ‘All That We Have’ on vinyl, featuring a masterful B-side of remixes by Gina Jeanz, Ikonika, Fiyahdred, Rose Holland, and Coco Em. The vinyl edition is available to pre-order from May 28th, alongside the digital release of the first remix, Revolve by Gina Jeanz.
Following two packed-out EP launch shows at Strange Brew (Bristol) and NinetyOne Living Room (London), Marla continued to build momentum throughout 2024, with performances at The Jazz Cafe, Shambala, London Jazz Festival, House of KOKO, and The Roundhouse. These shows capped off a year of global touring as Loyle Carner’s bassist—where she also supported him in the U.S. as a DJ.
Looking ahead, Marla is confirmed for SXSW London, Outlook, We Out Here, Glastonbury and Down The Rabbit Hole, as well as EU support for Cymande for 2025. She’ll also be joining Little Simz on her upcoming world tour, following her standout performance on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage.
