“May our praise adorn Him like violet robes”
Independent artist, Marleya Shai, (mar-lei-yuh shy) is aspiring to create a new genre of worship reflective of the imagined collaborate worship of all nations, tribes and tongues, to honor Christ Jesus and His finished work for our salvation. So far in her creative journey, she is finding the Lord faithfully leading her to develop her music more and more into reflecting who she was created to be: a faithful servant steadfastly glorifying the name of Christ Jesus.
Here are a few questions she has been asked, and her answers:
⁃ What is your genre?
"It's been dubbed by some, 'Kingdom Music!' My taste is somewhere between what I would call folk or historically influenced and what I imagine the worship emanating from the courts of the Lord would sound, with a modern flair. Whatever it is, I love to write with instruments I imagine King David would use."
⁃ Do you write your music?
"I have been writing since I was a kid, but haven’t taken it seriously until this year when the Lord began impressing songs on my heart. I love to cover classic hymns with a Celtic influence, but majority of the music I will be sharing will be Holy Spirit lead, especially my first single, "You Alone," which the Lord impressed on my heart in such detail, that He gave me the whole song so quickly I could barely write it down fast enough. Because of that, I honestly don't feel like I can take credit for what the Holy Spirit impressed on me."
