The intergalactic alliteration "mars mushrooms" has been experimenting through the realm of many plucked, blown and struck tones since 1998. In concerts, some of which last several hours, with massive improvisation and sophisticated composition, new worlds of sound are discovered and celebrated for every dancing leg.
The musical roots of the band lie in the American jamband scene with bands like Grateful Dead, Phish and Disco Biscuits. Translated into German, one would probably assign mars mushrooms to the genre of post-Krautrock.
The band are five friends from southern Germany, who played together, celebrated a tour to Japan, have already released 9 albums, regularly spend weekends together at gigs and festivals all over Germany and celebrate this. Fact: Due to constant improvisation the band is not bored even after more than 20 years of making music together. Improvised and dance-infected.
In 2022 mars mushrooms have started their own little festival „Jamkraut“ in Adelmannsdorf (Wolframs-Eschenbach).
