Shannon Reilly and Peter Conner are the song writing partnership behind Marsh Gothic.
Shannon was born and raised in the fishing port of Grimsby, descended on her mother’s side from a proud dynasty of fishermen, going way back, and from Irish descent on her father’s. Still anchored in the water, she now lives aboard her narrowboat on the canals of Lincolnshire. Her strong connection to the water is reflected in her poetry and lyrics. Or perhaps it’s the other way round?
Peter was born on the coast of Wales, facing the Irish Sea, and grew up on the coast of Lincolnshire by the North Sea. His heritage is Irish, English and Finnish, and his music reflects those beginnings: lyrical and darkly romantic, with more than a hint of wintry forests and deserted, windswept beaches.
Welcome to the world of Marsh Gothic, where the dark, minimalist world of Nordic-noir meets the misty marshes of the Lincolnshire coast. A match made somewhere in the twilight world between the waking and the dreaming…
