With a musical father from London, Brussels-based Marthe Lagae was raised among British folk and reggae guitars. Songwriting was instilled at Moore-Lagae's household.
In 2022, she decided it was time for a band. And so it happened: her first tunes where
translated to a band setting in the basement of an anti-squat castle in the south of Brussels. They get opportunities to play, grow... As a band, but also solo, Marthe manages to move many an audience with songs in both English and Dutch. What started as an intimate bedroom project soon evolves into a full-format band.
Marthe's songs clearly reflect a childhood in the 1990s, which actually sounded more like the
1970s, yet her songs are all about the here and now. Call it folk, indie, pop or rock... it's probably
all true. From shameless ballads to fuzzy rock songs, one thing is certain: Martha Moore's music
is brutally honest.
Inspirations are: Adrianne Lenker (Big Thief), Sharon Van Etten, Jessica Pratt, Joan As Police Woman, The Breeders, Sandy Denny, The Cardigans, Cocteau Twins, Mazzy Star, PJ Harvey...
Over the past year, Martha Moore recorded in the Johnny Green Giant studio together with Reinhard Vanbergen as the producer. The result is 'Out Of Season'. a debut EP featuring five songs. Meanwhile, they are working on new songs with their own sound, finetuning their live performance, with new recordings on the horizon.
