Formed in 2023 Mataqali (pronounced [mataŋˈɡali]) is a duo based out of Vancouver, Canada. Mataqali is the Fijian word for clan or landowning unit referring to a family of people from the land they are a part of. They came up with the name from one of the duo - Joshua Knight's - father Joel Knight, being Fijian and having a band with the similar name in the 1980's, Mataqali Music. The other member Juan Claude Leibman and Joshua are the talented composers behind 'Cool Reggae Christmas' with plenty more music to come.
