<a href="spotify:artist:6f9k441QNRtBMIpnGniqMG" data-name="Materialeyes">Materialeyes</a> is a progressive rock band from the UK.
Many moons ago in an isolated hostelry deep in the wilds of Yorkshire, two strangers became acquainted. The conversation soon turned to music. Dave had a keen interest in the band <a href="spotify:artist:3Uz6jx81OY2J5K8Z4wmy2P" data-name="Camel">Camel</a>, while his new friend Will had a love of the music of <a href="spotify:artist:2RcvmCViumRYdDso9zifzN" data-name="Bill Nelson">Bill Nelson</a>. Ever since that night, Dave Westmoreland and Will Lawery have been firm friends.
Through a shared love of prog rock, Dave and Will were inspired to create their own version of that genre. In 2016 Martyn Howes, who had been a member of Wakefield rock band Roadster in the 80's, was asked to join on guitar.
<a href="spotify:artist:6f9k441QNRtBMIpnGniqMG" data-name="Materialeyes">Materialeyes</a> was born. Their debut CD <a href="spotify:album:4Z2DCWFWSAU0pNvcZJrd3D" data-name="Strange Road">Strange Road</a>, released in 2018, was generally well-received. The final title track stands at an epic 15 minutes long.
Their follow-up album In Focus was released a year later in 2019. Local legends, Billy Longthorne and "Mad" Bill Mosey were persuaded to put aside their differences and fulfill the roles as drummer and bassist on the album. The album took their music to a new level and featured songs written and sung by all three permanent members.
The band continued to write and record until the outbreak of Covid in March 2020, which saw the guys isolating from the pandemic. Luckily, most of the recording for the new album was complete. With the mixing-down almost finished, it was decided to release the first track <a href="spotify:album:4zVmMrBGBoE9ZTex0JGVVT" data-name="Adrenaline High">Adrenaline High</a> as a single.
