For Matilda Espmarker, songwriting is a channel for feeling and thinking. A window for prayer and process. She began playing guitar at 14, transforming her poetry into melodies, with music that reflects deep themes of faith and love while not shying away from struggles and suffering. She has performed in various ensembles over the years and currently creates unique jazz and opera interpretations with Trio Amorosi. Despite her classical training, her own music is grounded in the singer-songwriter tradition. In "Mary’s Morning," Matilda's stripped-down acoustic, American folk style explores themes of trust and love, drawing unique perspectives from biblical stories.
In upcoming singles, 2024, collaborations with Buster Blaesild, Mats Olsson, Dan Fridh, Christoffer Wallin, and Liv Studio Productions result in a warm, poppy, yet acoustic sound, creating a blissful and uplifting musical landscape. The singles "Today, Another Way to Be," "My Brother is Sleeping," and "Oh Savanna" convey messages of identity, gratitude, and perseverance. Beyond the studio, Matilda is leading one of the largest clubhouses in Europe, combating loneliness and mental health issues. Her belief in the power of the arts has enabled the development of several art-supported rehabilitation programs and a thriving music platform. Lund's Fountainhouse received the Milledagen Arts and Integration Prize in 2024, and Matilda was nominated as "Skåne’s Community Champion" in 2023.
