The Roman Candles are a fiery rock and roll band with plenty of smouldering, simmering moments as well. They blend elements of the blues, country and rock and roll through a psychadelic-jam filter. Matt Hopper's influences span musicians like Wilco and Tom Petty to shoegazey, psychedelic rock. There's a little bit of everything for anyone, which is certainly part of Hopper's appeal. The band formed in 1999 in Anchorage, AK and Hopper has spent the better part of his adult life touring in a Kerouac style wandering, forming bands for studio albums and performances in such places as Madison, WI, Boise, ID and Portland, OR.
