Matt Naybour

I'm a songwriter based in Guildford just seeing where this ride can take me. A lot of music has been inspired by great albums by Leonard Cohen and Dar Williams. I'm trying to put my own British spin on their style.

A Stage of Life was written, recorded, produced, and mastered in my old flat in Woking. The bedroom was the best room for recording, but it also had a window facing out to a road. There are some tracks where you can hear the rumblings of a motorbike or a lorry in the background (listen out at the end of Winter Sun).

A fun piece of trivia is that every song on "A Stage of Life" was recorded in a single take, using one microphone. As one might imagine... this sometimes took quite a few attempts to get a good take, because a single mistake on guitar or vocals on any attempt would mean the recording was ruined.
