Matt Rees

Hi! I'm Matt Rees. I'm a worship leader and songwriter from Metro Detroit.

I've been writing songs for a long time. I had computer time during piano lessons where I got to dabble in Music Ace and come up with some wild creations. I formed a couple of short-lived bands in middle school and high school, but when my parents finally got us a Mac in middle school for our family computer, I got sucked into Garageband and haven't stopped writing since.
My parents were worship leaders at our church when I was growing up, and I cut my teeth on guitar and piano in a free-flowing worship environment. I love to sing the Psalms and write songs out of encounters with Jesus in the scriptures.

I recorded my first studio EP in college, <a href="spotify:album:1FQaCzEl2lSL16zCjJA5qr" data-name="Nothing But The Cross">Nothing But The Cross</a> with my parents, siblings, and some amazing friends.
After graduating, I led worship at Metro Detroit Christian Church and recorded several songs with <a href="spotify:artist:3R1XPeGkLdGXBewQk22zay" data-name="GRANDE">GRANDE</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:5BkCqlrmtDeJcEo6SdtBPm" data-name="Felicity Joy">Felicity Joy</a> for <a href="spotify:artist:5WMz9D6JT7yZLfI162gVli" data-name="Mdcc Worship">Mdcc Worship</a>. Together we wrote and recorded 2020&#39;s <a href="spotify:album:1VJN9Ywae0D1c4TeBuQG04" data-name="Open the Gates">Open the Gates</a> project and 2021&#39;s <a href="spotify:album:03OBFAI6NUkEsCqKIaPsKq" data-name="Blood &amp; Water">Blood &amp; Water</a>, including <a href="spotify:track:0CIr1ufD04yS2ag88hzlOQ" data-name="Forever Freshly Slain">Forever Freshly Slain</a> with producer Logan Witte (<a href="spotify:artist:5x6CxnGgmAfP6ErSRH3Hth" data-name="Innocent Vigilant Ordinary">Innocent Vigilant Ordinary</a>).

Most recently, I&#39;ve been working with producer Jacob Rye ( <a href="spotify:artist:2rYnqGdPpTSCN38GtmsYkX" data-name="Ghost Kingdoms">Ghost Kingdoms</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6z4nXvHkn0x8TiKIimFHDP" data-name="LO CLOUD">LO CLOUD</a>) to put out . We released <a href="spotify:album:42BuCigFi3g36BAWGzBvZo" data-name="Redeemer EP">Redeemer EP</a> in January 2024. More new music coming soon!
