Born legally blind on January 4, 1989 in Miami, Florida, Matthew Sonata, is a singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist. Matthew showed an early gift for music and with a bevy of instruments including the piano, drums, bass and flute, he taught himself to play at the age of 4. With his innate talent and his deep commitment to his craft, he began writing and recording his own music early on. With his ease and comfort while performing on stage, while off stage, he would take the opportunity to expand his talents at the music program at The Miami Lighthouse for the Blind.
Learning different styles of music and instruments, Matthew's vast talent was easily recognized by several influential people. Two time Grammy Award winning percussionist, Bobby Thomas Jr. as well as renown artist, Rebecca Duren, would help Matthew take his creativity to the next level as he began to compose his own contemporary compositions.
Matthew has performed his many styles of music at various venues such as The House of Representatives and for individuals such as Dwayne Wade Sr., Woody Harrison and recording artist, Nicole Henry. Matthew Sonata composes from his real life experiences with a unique voice capable of influencing, motivating, educating and inspiring listeners of all ages and genres.
