Matthew Evans

Matthew Evans was raised in Clinton, North Carolina and born in Newark, New Jersey. Matthew discovered his passion for singing at the age of five. He started with singing around the house until his brother, Marcus Cox, noticed something within him. Matthew’s confidence was boosted and he joined the youth choir in church at the age of seven.

Matthew began entering talent shows all throughout middle & high school with his newfound talent.

Towards the end of Matthew’s senior year of high school, with a plethora of music accomplishments under his belt, he decided that he wanted to become a music major with a concentration in vocal performance. Matthew was offered a music scholarship to join the Elizabeth City State University’s Concert Choir, for the remainder of his time while furthering his education at ECSU.

Throughout college, Matthew competed in multiple singing competitions such as Tasha Cobbs “Your Dream is Out There”, MaryMary’s Spotlight Challenge, Tank “You’re My Star”, and even Sunday Best on BET.

Matthew graduated from Elizabeth City State University in May of 2016 and he is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.

Matthew loves to sing to others because he understands that it gives people an escape from the harsh realities of this world just for a moment. As he travels, he visits the homeless, students at universities, people at restaurants and more to share his gift and brighten their day one moment at a time.
