Matthew Grech (born June 24, 1989) is a Maltese worship leader, singer, music producer and songwriter. He was nominated for ‘Best Solo Artist’ at the 2007 and 2008 Bay Music Awards, and ‘Best Male Artist’ at the 2008 Malta Music Awards, under the artist name ‘Jay Omaro’.
He released his first Maltese worship album entitled: “L-Armata tal-Mulej” (the army of the Lord) in 2017. One year after, Matthew released two singles: “Heed the Call (Ends of the Earth)” and “Spirit of Power”.
That same year in 2018, Matthew auditioned for X-Factor Malta and was commended by the judges. He was put into a duo scenario, and made it to the ‘Judges’ House’ phase. In 2019, “Give Me A Chance” was released as a collaboration with “Voices of the Silenced” in the UK. When ‘The Blessing’ by Elevation Worship was released in 2020, Matthew partnered with a national worship leader to translate the song into Maltese. This project managed to cross denominational walls, and brought believers from various circles together to worship the name of Jesus. In February 2021, Matthew pioneered a Maltese translation of global hit 'Jerusalema’.
Matthew just released ‘Seven to the Lamb’, a special song that was born a few years ago. When he penned it, Matthew wanted to replicate on earth the very praises that are sung by the four living creatures, the 24 elders and the angels in the book of Revelation. It is now available on all digital stores.
