Embracing the freedom of the DIY music communities found throughout the country, Matthew McNeal has been defying genre where his roots run deep - Texas, USA. Grooves that roll on hypnotically like the Hill Country, breezy melodies inspired by the coastline, a dusting of ethereal pedal steel much like the late evenings in the west Texas desert, and a pining voice from east Texas, all brought to the home base of Fort Worth, where plenty of music legends have hung their hats - from <a href="spotify:artist:3ZWab2LEVkNKiBPIClTwof" data-name="Townes Van Zandt">Townes Van Zandt</a> to <a href="spotify:artist:3qnGvpP8Yth1AqSBMqON5x" data-name="Leon Bridges">Leon Bridges</a>.

Matthew McNeal and longtime collaborator Andre Black spent the 2010s touring relentlessly, releasing their 2015 debut <a href="spotify:album:6rkfuToV40oRWtrXgSZsj4" data-name="Compadre">Compadre</a>, 2018’s acclaimed <a href="spotify:album:4jXvzVfhXrkGUe2v6BXMgH" data-name="Good Luck">Good Luck</a>, and 2020’s <a href="spotify:album:58f1O0xdevb2BYivO6x1Cx" data-name="Good Grief">Good Grief</a> LP.
 Shortly after, the band&#39;s fourth studio album <a href="spotify:album:3Z4NiKuNAMsPxacC04Pnac" data-name="Along For The Ride">Along For The Ride</a> was released in 2021, narrating a story of love and loss from track to track, followed by the <a href="spotify:album:5xDn2P3M849w7JOaeF1A4N" data-name="Love Was">Love Was</a> EP in 2023. The band&#39;s fifth LP <a href="spotify:album:3bN7ctBrK9WluScmcviCeU" data-name="HIGHLONESOME">HIGHLONESOME</a> was released in 2025, amidst a touring season with stops at Willie Nelson&#39;s Luck Reunion during SXSW and Nashville&#39;s Americanafest.

The alternative indie-rocker continues to tap frequent collaborator Ted Young (<a href="spotify:artist:5gspAQIAH8nJUrMYgXjCJ2" data-name="Kurt Vile">Kurt Vile</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:22bE4uQ6baNwSHPVcDxLCe" data-name="The Rolling Stones">The Rolling Stones</a>) to help co-produce and mix their albums, while their studio and live bands feature an all-star cast, featuring members of acts such as <a href="spotify:artist:4YsP5zmteLQ7etNjHAOu30" data-name="Midlake">Midlake</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5skM4jc4QoEpHiWWl6OoW7" data-name="Israel Nash">Israel Nash</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:02seUFsFQP7TH4hLrTj77o" data-name="Nathaniel Rateliff &amp; The Night Sweats">Nathaniel Rateliff &amp; The Night Sweats</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:3bhu7P5PfngueRHiB9hjcx" data-name="Elle King">Elle King</a>.
