Matthew Shaw’s music sparkles with dusty pop, analog shimmer, and sweet nostalgia. The instrumentation is minimal with fuzzed out Moog, buzzing Juno, stuttering Casio drum machines, but balanced with clear and poignant lyrics that cut through the noise.

His story starts straight outta Bakersfield, where punk ruled and skateboarding was life. Recording and playing in bands was second nature to Matthew, and the all-ages venues and dank practice spaces were home.

After moving to Seattle, Matthew’s debut record Ghosts in the Concrete earned him street cred, and the ability to open for big local acts like Pedro the Lion and Fleet Foxes. After a decade of recording and collaborations Seattle seemed to lose it’s spark, becoming a haunted trap of excess and addiction.

Coming home to California was a fresh start, and the sun bleached state is truly in Matthew’s DNA. Finding success in commercial music and cinematography, he was finally ready to write new solo material. Thus birthed the second act of the Matthew Shaw music story, and it comes rooted in where it all began. Full of lofi synths and heartfelt lyrics, this is not a new trendy record but an homage to the golden age of indie rock.

Matthew Shaw previously opened for Phantogram, Pedro the Lion, Say Hi, Fleet Foxes, Minus the Bear, These Arms Are Snakes, AC Newman, and Her Space Holiday. He has also been a collaborator and touring musician for Her Space Holiday and founder of the band City Light.
