(っ.❛ ᴗ ❛.)っ hi, i'm maty and i've been making music since 2018. i released some demos on soundcloud, then created my first artist project (@Maty V, if you're interested). later, i started this project, matxsek, because the name and the concept felt more authentic to me (it's a spin on my real-life nickname).
all these years i've been recording, mixing, and mastering my songs on my own, in my bedroom, with my homemade studio setup. i’m classically trained in violin and piano, so expect to hear plenty of both in my songs :P i still have to learn how to play the guitar (to make my songs dancey)
recently, i've been exploring themes of softness and power (in relationships, in relation to the outside world, etc.). my songs tend to be melancholic, introspective, analytical, and playful. i sing in english or czech, whatever suits the song idea the best.
for the past two years, i've also been experimenting with drag and performance art, which has become an important part of how i present my music. because my songs are very personal, using makeup, wigs, and stylization helps me create distance while also making the experience feel more universal. it’s a way of blurring the line between art and artist, masculinity and femininity, truth and fiction. drag gives my songs new layers of meaning, while also letting me be playful, free, and theatrical—exactly how i want my music to exist. :)
i hope you like me hahaha
