MAURI DARK — “DREAMS OF A MIDDLE-AGED MAN” DEBUT ALBUM OUT ON DEC 18, 2020
After five albums and hundreds of shows with metal duo Mystons, Mauri Kosonen releases dark folky singer/songwriter music as Mauri Dark. His acoustic baritone guitar and deep, low voice set the warm mood of his autobiographical, intimate and timeless music influenced by Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen and Nick Drake.


The Turku, Finland based frontman, musician and visual artist made his debut solo album mostly alone, then perfected his dark sound with world-famous professionals—mixing engineer/associate producer Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Apocalyptica), mastering engineer Vlado Meller (Johnny Cash, Metallica) and associate producer Jussi Vuola.


The first single and music video “Dreams Of A Middle-Aged Man”, released Nov 6, is a trip through life and dreams. The video directed by Vesa Ranta, known from metal music videos for Dark Tranquility, Amorphis and Sólstafir.


The fragile, emotional and from quiet and intimate to loud and bold growing 2nd single ”Thin Line Of Understanding” released Nov 19.


The third single ”Poison Woman” and full album released Dec 18. "Poison Woman" is slightly rockier with drums, bass and electric guitar and sounds from western movie soundtracks stripping down to bare man and guitar.
