From his shoebox New York City apartment, 25-year-old maxwell rose writes, records, and produces all his own work (he even does the cover art, too!) Blending influences from traditional folk, indie pop, ‘60s rock, proto-punk, and hip-hop/R&B, he would describe his music as “city boy folk” or “nostalgiamericana”, recontextualizing the folk genre’s origins into the life of a 21st Century Gen Z-er in the big city. With poetic lyrics ranging from love & heartbreak to mental health and full-blown existential crises, maxwell hopes to speak to his generation and those before and after him as they experience the full breadth of life’s ups, downs, and the spaces in between.
