MC Slip is a UK rapper and producer known for his technical wordplay, storytelling and multi syllable rhymes.
Born in Blackburn UK, his influences growing up in the 90’s were rappers like 2Pac, Eminem, Nas, The Notorious BIG, Mobb Deep, Cypress Hill, Jehst and Wu Tang. He was also considerably inspired by the local dance scene in Blackburn. Slip quickly became popular on the ‘Donk’ scene as a talented MC performing at many clubs in the North West of England and being featured on many underground Donk CD’s
MC Slip started pushing his pen to hip hop music around the age of 19 when he formed the rap group ‘Blackburn THC’. The group released their first mixtape ‘Setting the Standard’ creating a local buzz and followed up with their second mixtape ‘Criminology’ where Slip began his beat making journey. The group separated after their final release ‘Tagz n Toe Ragz’.
In between Blackburn THC’s first two mixtapes, Slip released his own project ‘The Cotton Town Mixtape’ in 2009.
In 2013 he made his second solo project ‘Blaze Time Stories’, a hard and gritty mixtape showcasing his storytelling and technical abilities.
It wasn’t until 2020 that Slip broke his silence with his debut album ‘Whatever Chills The Illin’. A deep layered album with a more personal feel to it.
In 2022 he released the concept album ‘The Return of Tony Snapbag’. A short story about a gangster named Frank Shepherd. In 2023 he released his latest album ‘IDST’.
