Combining the post punk revival musicality of The Strokes, the urgent energy of Misfits, and the retro wave groove of Southern Californians -- MDRN HSTRY currently serves as one of the focal points to the San Diego Music scene.
Their live shows have created a strong cult-following recently selling out the Music Box, Downtown San Diego in August 2021 (capacity 705). They have been awarded Best Live Rock Band in San Diego by the The San Diego Music Awards 2020 and have pioneered projects such as the Garage Mahal sessions (airing on PBS) and the Same Same but Different Music Festival (sold out September 2021 capacity 4,500).
Their unique style is accompanied by a loyal and reverent fan base that provides an unmatched energy to their live performances. From mosh pits to kumbaya. 3D glasses, and the frontman in the rafters. Sweat, sex, heavy shredding, wavy surf, lights, colors, funk, beautiful people, yelling, screaming, crying -- all with a tempo of the barometric scale. Their shows are more resemblant to an “experience” than the psychedelic disco witnessed by the viewer and barricaded by the old tv’s, stage props and choreographed audio/visuals in front of them.
