About Our Past......AND WHAT TOMORROW MAY BRING.
The story of Medicine Jar starts in 2012, when founder and bassist Axel Flores wanted to find a new vehicle for his body of musical work. Axel had some some catchy material, and was looking for that solid band lineup in order to realize his vision of an established alternative rock sound with new and fresh material.
After months of soul-searching and tryouts, Axel met vocalist Carl-Erik Svensson. As they began playing music together, they realized they were on to something. Axel then reached out to his former bandmate from Seven Secrets, Jim Macdonald, who had recently sat-in as lead guitar with Medicine Jar for a gig.
Once Jim joined the band, the three musicians worked to establish what would become Medicine Jar's signature sound from Axel's original material. When an opening for a new drummer came along, Axel met drummer Josh Greben in 2016. Medicine Jar went on to play several well-received shows in the San Francisco Bay Area. Towards the end of 2016, the band began to record a full EP including Axel's original songs along with fully collaborative new material. Medicine Jar recently released a debut album titled Human By Design, and continues to write and record new material in advance of a second album.
Looking towards the future, Medicine Jar is poised to continue gigging around the Bay Area and writing new and purposeful rock music. Stay tuned...The Journey Never Ends!
